Many standards, including ASTM F1292 and ASTM F3313, require the tester to identify the least favourable (worst-case) location on the surface being evaluated. In some cases this is easy to spot — such as areas with visible wear or damage — but often it's difficult to confirm without physically dropping the E-missile. The Manual Drop Device enables a practical pre-test assessment by allowing the tester to substitute the metal block normally suspended from the TRIAX2015 tripod and suspension cable, and instead hold the E-missile by hand. This makes it easier to move around a playground, field, or other surface, raise or lower the missile as needed, and collect data across multiple locations. The results can then be used to guide where formal, standards-based testing should be performed. CPA also provides training on the test procedure, use of the Manual Drop Device, and the reporting software.
